1. MobiSMS on a Java phone

To use MobiSMS, your mobile phone needs to be GPRS enabled
and you need to be currently subscribed to GPRS with your mobile
provider.

MobiSMS leverages the power of the Internet to provide an
alternative route for sending SMS messages. You are no
longer tied into your mobile operator for the delivery of
SMS messages.

MobiSMS sends short message commands over GPRS to the
MobiSMS Internet portal. From this central location, your
SMS messages are automatically routed to mobile networks
worldwide.

Our international SMS coverage details can be viewed at:
http://www.mobimarketing.com/coverage.htm

MobiSMS messages are priced depending on the units you
purchase. Messages can be purchased in MobiRecharge packs of
500, 100, 200, and 50 units. The starting price is A$0.17 per
unit. Typically on most GSM networks, 1 unit = a single SMS
message of 160 characters.

Additional pricing details and currency conversions can be
found in our online shop at:
http://mobimarketing.com/shop/default.php?cPath=36

2. MobiSMS features
Synchronised contact management
MobiSMS allows you to enter your contact details directly on
a mobile phone and at a touch of a button have them
sychronised with the MobiSMS portal website. No more loss of
valuable contact information when you loose your phone!

Upload your contacts

Using a contact management system (such as MS Outlook), a
file can be uploaded to the MobiSMS portal and synchronised
with your mobile phone. Alternatively, export your contacts
from the MobiSMS portal for use in other applications. You
can also view information, such as email addresses, FAX
numbers, etc. by requesting more details from within the
MobiSMS Java application.

Predefined messages

Hate predictive text? Now you can type long messages on your
PC and store them on the MobiSMS portal. Using MobiSMS you
can access these messages for inclusion in your SMS
messages. For example, directions to your home, special
holiday or birthday messages, concise product information.

SMS message history

Our MobiSMS portal retains a history of your SMS messages as
they are sent. By logging in to your account, you can check
the delivery status of each message and even choose to
resend an individual SMS.

Unicode support

MobiSMS includes Unicode support. This allows you to send
an SMS message in a foreign character set, i.e. Hindi, Kanji, Hebrew etc. Note that some phones do not support Unicode. For these phones, disable Unicode under the Preferences option.

Your own personal MobiSMS account

After you have registered, you can logon to your MobiSMS
account at: http://www.mobimarketing.com
(select the option under Your Account)

4. Using MobiSMS on a Java phone

MobiSMS allows you to send SMS messages using an interface
very similar to your standard mobile phone SMS client. As
you would expect, we have included a number of unique
features to enhance your messaging experience.

Simply type your message as normal (if your phone supports
predictive text, you will be able to use this within
MobiSMS). The immediate difference is that you can now send
a message of up to 450 characters. This spans across three
SMS messages. The character count and number of SMSs that
will be used is shown in the upper line of MobiSMS.

When you are ready to send your SMS, select Options -> Send
and enter your destination number.

After typing the number, select Options -> Send to confirm
the despatch of your SMS message. Note that to ensure that
the SMS message is sent over GPRS, there may be a slight
delay while your phone establishes a GPRS connection. Wait
for this to complete before exiting MobiSMS.

To simplify the sending of SMS messages, you can create an
Address Book of frequently used numbers. Select Options
- > Names. Then Options - > Add to insert a new entry into
the Address Book.

Alternatively, and using your computer, log into the MobiSMS
Portal and under Contacts create your own personal Address
Book. Using MobiSMS on your phone, you can Synchronise
these Contacts by selecting Options -> Synchronise.

Predefined messages can also be created within the MobiSMS
Java application. Select Options -> Messages. Similarly,
these Messages can be easily created on the MobiSMS Portal
under the Messages button. Synchronise these Messages to
your MobiSMS Java application by selecting Options ->
Synchronise.

Your available SMS credits can be checked by selecting Options
-> Credits. With MobiSMS your Contacts and Messages can be
safely stored on your MobiSMS Portal account. Use Options
-> Synchronise to synchronise any changes between your phone
and your portal account.

Options -> Merge, uses the more GPRS data than Synchronise.
This function merges the information held by MobiSMS on your
phone and the MobiSMS Portal site. Use Merge to fix any
discrepancies and also if you change your mobile phone and
need to update your phones contact details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What does it cost to use MobiSMS?

A. MobiSMS only charges you for the SMS messages you send. It
does not cost anything to register and install MobiSMS.
Our current summary of international operator charges can
be found at:

http://www.mobimarketing.com/coverage.htm

Q. What about the cost of GPRS access?

A.
MobiSMS sends messages using GPRS. MobiSMS uses a
compression algorithm to minimise the use of GPRS bandwidth.
An SMS message of 160 characters sent using MobiSMS
uses less than 600 bytes of GPRS data traffic. Depending on your
GPRS service provider, a MobiSMS message should incur little
more than 1 cent as a GPRS service charge.

Q. Does MobiSMS set my Sender ID to my mobile phone number?

A.
Yes, where available, MobiSMS will set your Sender ID to
your mobile phone number. This allows recipients of your
MobiSMS messages to identify you as the sender.

Q. What happens when I upgrade my mobile phone?

A.
Because we don't use restrictive licensing, you are free to download and reinstall MobiSMS for Java on your new phone. Enter your password on request and activate the Options ->Merge function.
This will synchronise your existing data and preferences that are stored in your MobiSMS portal account.
